3-Peat! Bulldogs Win Third Straight City Banner

Friday night saw a rematch between crosstown rivals Kitsilano & Churchill after the Bulldogs survived a Kitsilano comeback and won 93-90 on Jan 27th. Churchill was without UBC commit Izaiah Ugoalah who suffered an injury in the semi-final game on Wednesday. The Blue Demons that came out of the gate strong as Alec Bayne scored an early 10p in the first quarter and led 20-12. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs went on a 16-9 run to cut the deficit within 2 as Matija Gabrillo scored 10p but Luka Lizdek & Howard Wang’s 6p each gave the Demons a 40-35 halftime lead. Lambert Pajayon and Alec Bayne fueled their teams in the 3rd with 9p & 8p, respectively. In the end it came down to free throws as Harry Liu split a pair to give the hosts a 3p lead and the 73-70 win for their third Vancouver Championship in as many years.

Last night’s game was the third & final time the 2016 grads will have played against each other in the city final.
